Vintage Wednesday #36 (on a Thursday)

I've had a busy day which is why I'm only getting around to posting for Vintage Wednesday now. Since it's nearly 5:00 AM I guess technically it's Thursday. So today/yesterday for Vintage Wednesday I wore a vintage sweater vest that I thrifted about a week ago. I thought I'd probably have to wait until fall to break it out, but it was a cool 75 degrees today so I could wear it outside without roasting. It actually came with a matching cardigan too! I didn't get a chance to photograph the cardigan, but I'll break it out soon enough. The label on the vest says, "Country Club". It's an acrylic mix and is only supposed to be hand washed. Unfortunately I didn't read the label and threw it in my washing machine right away. It came out with only a minor bit of shrinkage, but the material turned quite stiff. (Although after wearing it all day it has loosened up a bit, so maybe it's not completely ruined!) It's still wearable at least, which is good because I absolutely adore the colored stripes!





Life seems to be becoming more and more overwhelming as of late. Jon and I just got home from watching Taxi Driver at my theatre and as I pulled into my driveway I noticed the engine of my car was smoking...I mean, seriously? SERIOUSLY? First four new tires...then the coolant tank needs to be replaced...then the convertor is stolen...and now the engine is smoking?! Gah! I just can't believe it. Jon and I had a talk when we came in and we both agreed that we can't keep pouring money into the car. So we're going to be only using my dad's truck until we move (which is looking like it's going to have to be in October).





The past few weeks have been practically unbearable with my dad dying, my cat getting sick, spraining my ankle, and all of the stupid car trouble. I'm sorry to fill this post with ranting, but everything just really sucks right now. At least I had fun outside taking pictures for today. :/





























Well...there's still Harry Potter to look forward to tomorrow/tonight...

A Sprained Ankle

How was everyone's weekend? Mine had its ups and downs. On Friday I was out at a park by my house taking these photos and when I started walking back to my car - snap! I sprained my ankle and it hurt like hell! Luckily there was a park bench nearby so I was able to shimmy over to it and sit for awhile. I was in unbearable pain for a good 10 minutes, but after that I was able to get up and walk/hobble the rest of the distance back to my car.





It's day 4 now of my sprain and it still hurts quite a bit although the swelling has gone down. I've been hobbling along on my crutches to get around. I was hoping I'd never have to use them again...





Jon and I went to see Super 8 on Saturday before I went to work. We took my mom too and we all thought it was great. Jon and I both gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Sunday I had to work in the morning, but later on a few co-workers came over to shoot the bull and play Ms. Pacman. So the despite the sprained ankle I ended up having a pretty nice weekend.











Yep, these are the culprits! The reason I sprained my ankle! The slingback part doesn't hold my foot in tightly enough so my foot slipped out and twisted while I was walking on the grass.





If you have any advice for a sprained ankle I'm all ears!
