Vintage Wednesday #33 (On a Thiday)

Today for Vintage Wednesday (On a Thiday. FYI a Thiday is the grey area in between a Thursday and a Friday.) I'm wearing my 70s heart dress that I got awhile back. I planned on wearing it when Jon and I were last in Chicago (about 2 months ago?) but the sleeves were so tiny that it was too uncomfortable to wear. Today I decided to remedy the situation by cutting little slits in the arm holes. I still have to sew the fabric up where I snipped it, but the dress now fits like a dream! I think it's better suited for frolicking in a field over strutting around the big city anyway.







This dress is so lightweight and perfect for summer! I absolutely adore the "Free Spirit" label with the little birds and flowers.

Romping on the Nautical Mile

What a busy couple of days it's been! Sunday morning I went to a mini blogger meet-up organized by Sara. We had breakfast and went thrift store shopping at Value World. I had a super yummy plate of french toast and got a few items from the thrift store including a pair of pink nylons with leopards on them. No, not leopard print, actual leopards. They are awesome. (I haven't taken pictures of my finds yet, but I shall share everything soon.) Unfortunately I had to work at noon, so I had to leave early. It was a fun way to start the day though. Sara and Lauren were both there and I met Brittney and Tiffany. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing bloggers here in Michigan!

Also this weekend Jon and I worked on new recipes for a gluten free diet. After doing a lot of research Jon has made a decision to go gluten free. I've also read a lot of articles, but so far I'm not ready to give up wheat. I told Jon I'd cut down though to make giving it up easier on him. So what kind of yummy gluten free dishes did we come up with?

Jon (who is a salad artist by the way) made a beautiful apple cranberry salad:



While I whipped up some homemade mushroom burgers! Yum! (The plate with the bread on it was mine, not Jon's.)



Today I managed to get a few outfit shots in between my visits to my grandma in the nursing home and my dad in the hospital. (My dad was looking better today. Thanks for all of the support, I truly appreciate it.)

I wore my white romper today with pink tights and my vintage blazer. I told you guys I live in a huge boating community! We have the Nautical Mile where most of these photos were taken. I love living so close to the lake, but I wish it wasn't so polluted so I could swim in it! Jon and I are planning a trip to the pool for Friday, but our cable needs to be fixed and the cable guy is coming between 2-4 and I'm working at 6. So our only chance for a swim is earlier in the day, but then what if the cable guy comes early? What to do....what to do....
