Michigan Blogger Meet-up Day 1

What a great, but very long weekend it was! Let's start with Friday. I was up painting until 4:30 in the morning. Once I cleaned up my paints and work space I started planning what I was going to wear to the Michigan Blogger meet-up. It took me 3 hours to figure out what to wear! That is way longer than it takes me to plan for date night with Jon! I went through so many different pairings of so many different outfits and nothing was appealing to me. I ended up going a more casual route with a printed skirt, bright red tights, white tee, and vintage blazer. Finally I was able to take a 4 hour nap/sleep break before I had to get ready. Well...I woke up, got dressed, did my hair and make-up and about 5 minutes before it was time to leave I decided to change. I thought I needed to look a little more fancy. This is what I ended up wearing:

At about 4 o'clock Lauren, Sara, and I began our trip out west. I had only been to Grand Rapids once before when I was younger, so I didn't really remember it. Needless to say, I was really excited to take a little mini trip and get away from the stressful reality of life for a day. We had clear skies for the whole drive there and we made really good time. Grand Rapids has some really interesting architecture that was cool to see.

We met up with the other bloggers at the St. Cecilia Music Center where the Bodies of Art fashion show was. We had a few minutes to chat and introduce ourselves and then the show started. The title of the event was, "Aqualush" and it featured fashion that focused on themes of the sea. I really liked some of the hair and make-up styles that the models wore.

After the show there was a reception upstairs, where they had snacks - including some very weird tasting pretzels. Haha, it was fun though.

For part two of the meet-up we went to place called, "The B.O.B." It had about 5 levels with a different restaurant and theme to each level. First we got some dinner and drinks at the lounge in the basement. There was a giveaway for two really cool purses and we were all given goody bags for coming, which was really nice. Here's a look at what we all got:

Haha, we all had a good laugh about the lingerie. The best part is that the name on the tags says, "skunkfunk." Classic. Tieka is such a doll for organizing the whole event. It really was a lot of fun. After filling our bellies and chatting we went up to the top level of "The B.O.B" to the club for some dancing. I felt like such an out of touch old person because I only recognized about three of the songs that they played. Oh well. I love dancing, so it was still fun to go out on the floor and act like an idiot.

Lauren, Sara, and I stayed the longest. We were at the club until a little after 1AM when we called it quits and drove to our hotel. We pretty much all passed out right away. I was so tired after only having had 4 hours of sleep for the whole day! It was so much fun meeting such lovely girls though. Everyone was so nice, looked so stylish, and had such great stories to share.

Here's a short video of the event that Tieka made:
