Date Day

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days, I've been really busy. Date day was a success! Jon and I had so much fun on Tuesday and the weather was perfect!

We went to gallery 323 East in Royal Oak where they have an exhibition featuring dark fairy tale/alice in wonderland themed artwork. It's a small gallery, but the artwork was all really amazing and inspiring. The girl that was working was nice and helpful and they have a little shop in the back where they sell things made by local artists.

After that we walked around downtown Royal Oak a bit more, looked in at a few other galleries, took pictures, and then went to see Greenberg. Jon and I both really liked it a lot. It was funny in an awkward way (which is my favorite kind of funny) but also had some good insight into life.

Once the movie was over we went home, made dinner, and watched Lost together. We are both huge Lost fans. Jon is always at work when it comes on Tuesdays, so we usually have to wait until late to watch it. However this Tuesday we got to watch it together at the real time! So it was a perfect end to the day.

About the date outfit: The skirt is one of my favorite spring/summer skirts. It's very lightweight, and the full, flirty shape keeps it from being too risque with the length being so short. (Also, I find that if you want to avoid being too risque in a short skirt it helps to wear flats. I think heels look better with knee-length hemlines and flats look better with shorter hemlines. This is just my opinion though.) The cream blouse is so amazing for layering. I will wear it under almost anything. The pink sweater is very sheer and lightweight. It is also really comfortable which is why I hate myself for getting red paint on it. (The paint is being covered by the blue jacket.) I love the fit of the jacket and it's perfect for breezy days. Altogether I was very pleased with this outfit.

Planning for a Date

Today I begged Jon to come with me to the playground to take blog pictures after I picked him up from work. This is the face he gave me:





However, he decided to come along anyway! What an amazing husband! It was already dark by the time I picked him up, so not all of our pictures turned out.

My hat fell off right before we started taking pictures and I had to put it back on without a mirror and only Jon's advice to go on. He claimed it wasn't lumpy in any parts, but being a guy he was certainly mistaken. Ah, well. There are worse things than a lumpy hat, right?

And YES I am wearing sunglasses at night. It's only because I didn't feel like wearing any make up today.

Tonight I wanted to plan out what I'm going to wear tomorrow for our date day. We don't get to always go out on dates much because a) we don't usually get home until midnight with our work schedules and b) we never have any money.

Which means I am thrilled about the idea of spending the day out and about with the husband.

I started out by taking out my favorite springy skirts. I want to wear a skirt since we're going to be out during the afternoon/early evening so I want to keep the outfit slightly casual.





I picked the two that I liked the best and started adding shirts to them.




















Finally I decided on my favorite and finished off the look:





Now I am all set for tomorrow. Yay! (The little blue dot thing on the pink sweater in the last photo is a button from the blazer that fell off. I didn't realize it had fallen off when I took the picture. No worries though, it is all sewn back on. Good as new!)


I was looking up when the next season of America's Next Model is going to start and it looks like it already started! I am very behind in my girly tv shows. I'm gonna try to catch up now. Goodnight!

Style Savvy

I meant to post about this back in December when I got this game for Christmas, but I just never got around to it. I don't know how many of you are huge nerds like me and own a Nintendo DS, but if you do, you should check out this game. Or, just borrow it from your 10 year old cousin.

Basically the gist of it is that you own your own (own your own, looks weird when it's spelled out, eh?) boutique. You have to style outfits for your customers who range from mod to vintage loving to gothic, etc. You earn money with each sale which you can then use to purchase more clothes for your store. You can also enter themed contests to earn rare items and even more cash.

I was excited to get the game, but I figured the clothing options were going to be fairly average and a little boring. I was certainly wrong! They have such adorable outfits in this game, some of which I wish I could pull out of the screen and wear myself!

Trust me, you don't have to be a pre-teen to enjoy this game!

My only real criticism of the game is that I wish the animation was a little more detailed. The clothes are detailed, but the people don't have enough definition.

Neutral Contest, Pretty Dress

This outfit was styled for weardrobe's neutrals contest.














This is one of my favorite vintage dresses! I don't wear it enough because it's a bleep to iron! You have to go through each layer on the bottom separately to iron it. But, it is cute, it fits well, and it's light weight, so it's perfect for spring/summer.

I love the little polka dots on it! I feel like a little girl when I wear it and I just want to spin in circles to make all of the layers dance! :)

Neutrals are my favorite look on me. I think they look best with my pale skin and bright red hair.

Unfortunately I got called in to work today. Which is good, because I get hours, but bad because I have to put the boring work clothes back on. Ahhhh! Don't make me take off my pretty dress!

Working Working Working

Yet another outfit I put together for work. I have the next few days off, so I'll be able to ditch the work clothes starting tomorrow.

I am so in love with my little cape coat! It's perfect for this slightly chilly weather we're having in Metro Detroit.

I'm going on a cruise in May, so I need to buy new cruise clothes. I can't really afford much right now, but I am definitely in the market for a new pair of black sandals and perhaps a thrifting trip for new sundresses is in store...we'll see. My husband needs new sandals too, and since his feet are so big there aren't many brands that carry his size, so his sandals will probably put a dent in our budget.

We won't be able to go cruise shopping until we get our tax refund back, but when we do go you can certainly expect cute new clothes updates! I'm hoping to get something from forever 21's Alice in Wonderland inspired line, Twist for the cruise! I hope I can convince the husband to let me get one of the dresses!

We are watching a claymation movie called $9.99 right now, it's pretty good so I am going to get back to it. Bye Bye!
