Blue + Purple + Snow

I love having a backyard so much! It's one of my favorite things about moving back to Michigan. Fun in the snow! I had a small backyard at one of the apartments that I had in Chicago. I had plans of lounging out in the spring/summer with a good book. However, then I remembered that there were rats everywhere and that kind of ruined it for me.













Unfortunately this is all of the fun that I'm going to have today. I have to tidy up the house because Jon and I are having a house warming party on Saturday for my side of the family. The place is looking nice, but there is still much work to be done! I'm a little bummed because we planned to put up framed classic/cult movie posters in the living room, but we don't have enough frames yet. So the living room walls are going to be pretty bare for our party. Bleh.

This is my second attempt at pattern mixing. I think I succeeded much better this time because the contrasting dots and stripes are subtle and not overwhelming. Last time I tried I was just all over the place with my outfit.

Hair Trim

I got my bangs/hair trimmed today. I went to Lamia & Lamia Salon and Day Spa in Grosse Pointe Woods. It was my first time there and I was pretty impressed! The staff was really nice. The prices are reasonable. (Not super cheap, but not ridiculously expensive either.) It smelled nice and they offer a lot of different products and services.








I asked for my bangs to be shortened a bit and to cut my layers to make my hair more tapered. I said I wanted a more 'rock n' roll' look. I am very happy with the results. I'm always nervous going to salons that don't really cater to an 'alternative' crowd. It's usually hit or miss. Occasionally I'll find someone who understands what I want, but usually they end up making me look too 'normal'. Before I moved to Chicago I used to get my hair done at London Calling. They would have been my first go-to place being back in Michigan, but they have gotten way too expensive.


Now that I've had my fun and relaxing time at the salon it's now time for me to go and be productive. House cleaning here I come!

Bowla' Granola

I wore one of my spring/summer dresses today. I tried to make it wintery by wearing it with a turtleneck. I'm really liking the black and tan combinations that I've been seeing on various blogs lately, so I decided to add a tan element with the belt (it's more of an orangey tan though). I also added a blue slip underneath to add a little something extra. AND!!! My bow came in the mail today from Lulu Letty's etsy shop! I wore it proudly.




















I saw Avatar today finally. I was way behind on the bandwagon with that one. It was good. It was what I expected. I was disappointed that the guy left behind his first bird thing and never got him back. Maybe choosing to wear blue today wasn't a coincidence? Subconscious decision perhaps?

Post Number 25!!!

Post #25!!!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!!

I thought about doing something nice for my 25th post, but I decided to hold off until number 50 or 100.

I finally got around to hanging hooks for my purses and hats this weekend. (Please ignore my messy bed in the background of the mirror.)





Unfortunately I was in the 'productive' mood when Jon was trying to do some re-writes on a script. He was not too happy with the pounding of the hammer, but it was worth it I think. Besides, he was suppose to put up my hooks 2 weeks ago and didn't.

Things are coming more and more together in our house. I am going to work on setting up our art studio in the basement tonight! I have been motivated to paint lately and I want to get to it before I lose the creative streak.

Although, I do wish that I had used more of a true red on my lips. I was going for a 50's pin-up girl look. I didn't take a picture of my outfit because again I was going to work, so there was nothing special to see.


However, tomorrow (and most of this week) I have a day off so expect a full outfit post!
