Blue Dress Day

So, it certainly did rain today, which means that I didn't get to go to the park. I still had a nice time celebrating my dad's birthday though, even though we had to celebrate indoors.

After the party I went to the MOCAD for my first official volunteer shift. I was a gallery attendant today, so I just walked around and monitored the galleries. It was quiet, but still fun and inspirational. A combination of one of the sculptures plus reading Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle gave me an idea for a new painting series. Don't you love when creativity sparks?

I got this dress on the cruise when I was in St. Thomas. They had all sorts of shops around the pier with tons of summer dresses and jewelry. The bracelet I'm wearing is also from St. Thomas. I think I've shown it already, but I haven't mentioned how it works. It's really awesome: the bracelet has little magnets on it and you line them up to make whatever form you want. You can also wear it as a necklace. I love when things are multi-functional, don't you?

Back to the dress though, usually I would consider the length a bit too long for my personal taste, but I actually really like the way it works with this particular dress. Perhaps because it's strapless the length helps to balance it out? It makes me feel prettier to have a little bit of a longer dress. I like the way it brushes against my lower legs as I walk.

The Breakdown:

Shirt: Old Navy
Mary Janes: Payless

Bracelet: St. Thomas
Necklace: Forever 21
